The Center for Law & Economics at the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences, invite applications for a Research assistant position in Data Science for Economics.

The initial appointment will be for one year with an expected renewal for at least one additional year. Salary is competitive and paid according to ETH standards. Part-time and remote work is possible.

Job description

Our research group employs quantitative methods to study institutions, laws, public policy, and political behaviour. In particular, this project is focused on a historical analysis of historical archives about Swiss economic history.

You will work on research in law, economics, and data science. This includes data prep and cleaning, analyzing economic models, running regressions and performing other empirical analysis, and building machine learning and natural language processing models.

Your profile

You will have, at the time of appointment, completed a Master's degree in Data Science, Economics, or related fields, with a strong focus on Natural Language Processing. Expert command of Python, working with large text corpora, is required. A substantive interest in history, law, or economics is desirable. All work-related interactions are in English, while German, French, and Italian knowledge is highly valued.
